David J. Prelutsky, MD, FACP, AAHIVS

Dr. David Prelutsky, Medical Director and Founder of Southampton Healthcare, started his private practice in 1986, and has been in the practice of general medicine since that time. Although the practice includes a diverse clientele, he has been serving the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and HIV community from the beginning.

Dr. Prelutsky was born in St. Louis. He completed his undergraduate work at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then returned to St. Louis to complete his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at St. Louis University Hospital and clinics. Dr. Prelutsky continued at St. Louis University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine for the two years following his residency. He currently holds a clinical faculty position at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Prelutsky as been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1982. In addition, he is certified as an HIV Specialist (AAHIVS).

Dr. Prelutsky has dedicated his life’s work to fighting HIV and treating the disease. He has been a pioneer in the treatment of HIV in the primary care setting and has extensive expertise in this field. In addition he has been conducting HIV clinical trials to expedite the release of new medications. Dr. Prelutsky is on staff at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and holds a clinical faculty appointment at Washington University School of Medicine.

 

 

Tassy N. Hayden, MD

Dr. Tassy Hayden is originally from rural Missouri, and came to Saint Louis to attend both college and medical school at Washington University. She completed her residency at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, and has been practicing as a board-certified family medicine physician in Jefferson County for the past three years.

Her skills include minor surgical procedures such as skin biopsies and suturing, abscess incision and drainage, joint injections, pap smears, endometrial biopsies, colposcopies, and long-acting implantable contraception. She is also DEA certified to treat opioid addiction with buprenorphine (suboxone). She is looking forward to expanding her clinical skills by working with the staff of Southampton, especially Dr. Prelutsky, and beginning a career of service to all St. Louisans, with a special interest in the LGBT community.

 

 

Timothy McDowell, MSN, ANP-C

Tim graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 1988 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and spent the following 16 years working in critical care.

In 2004 he earned a Master’s Degree at Maryville University in Nursing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.

He worked in the primary care setting from 2005 until 2009 where he gained an interest in, and a working knowledge of, the treatment of HIV. He then pursued other avenues as a Nurse Practitioner in both hospital inpatient at Mercy then outpatient at Barnes Center for Perioperative Assessment and Planning.

In September 2015, Tim seized an opportunity to return to the Primary Care setting at Southampton Healthcare–returning to a setting that he most enjoys, patient primary care.
