Dr. David Prelutsky, Medical Director and Founder of Southampton Healthcare, started his private practice in 1986, and has been in the practice of general medicine since that time. Although the practice includes a diverse clientele, he has been serving the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and HIV community from the beginning.
Dr. Prelutsky was born in St. Louis. He completed his undergraduate work at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then returned to St. Louis to complete his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine, and his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at St. Louis University Hospital and clinics. Dr. Prelutsky continued at St. Louis University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine for the two years following his residency. He currently holds a clinical faculty position at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Prelutsky as been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1982. In addition, he is certified as an HIV Specialist (AAHIVS).
Dr. Prelutsky has dedicated his life’s work to fighting HIV and treating the disease. He has been a pioneer in the treatment of HIV in the primary care setting and has extensive expertise in this field. In addition he has been conducting HIV clinical trials to expedite the release of new medications. Dr. Prelutsky is on staff at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and holds a clinical faculty appointment at Washington University School of Medicine.
